General Session 1: ERIC HERNANDEZ
The Dominant Strongholds of Our Culture
There are three dominant strongholds (i.e. worldviews) that permeate our culture and hinder people from coming to a salvific knowledge of God. In this session, you will learn what they are, how to identify them, and how to respond.
10:15 am – 11:15 am Breakout Sessions #1
- Jorge Gil: The Problem of Evil (Main Sanctuary)
If God is good and all-powerful, why doesn’t He put a stop to the evil in this world? Christians and non-Christians alike struggle with the concept of a loving God who allows widespread suffering in this life and never-ending punishment in hell. In this talk, Jorge unpacks this question and responds to this problem not only from a philosophical and biblical perspective but also from personal experience, you don’t want to miss this event.
- Kurt Jaros: How Can We Know the Bible is True? (Room 102)
What do psychedelic mushrooms, tattlers, and testimonies have in common? In this presentation, Dr. J explains how we can be confident in the message the Bible communicates to us. ‘Shrooms, snitches, & stories … oh my!
- Amy Davison: Biblical Sexuality: What it is and Why it Matters! (Room 103)
This practical session equips the believer to engage culture with truth and grace on its most vulnerable battlefield: sexuality. Attendees will learn how sex isn’t an act, but an expression of our worldview. We will then engage with leading secular movements, like sex positivity, to see how it’s fostering brokenness in millennials and Gen Z. And wrap up with practical tips on how a discipleship approach can help the church stand firm against the cultural tide.
- [Español] Rolando Rodriguez: Alimenta Tu Fe, Malpaza tus Dudas (Room 105)
“Cuidado con los que dudan de ti y de tu fe. Nuestra necesidad de alimentar nuestro cuerpo y nuestra necesidad de alimentar nuestra fe son muy similares: ambas son necesarias para la salud, el crecimiento y la supervivencia, y estamos constantemente conscientes de cuánto las necesitamos. Debemos alimentar nuestra fe para vencer la duda”.

- Mike Miller: The Apologetic Pulpit (Room 103)
Preachers have a unique opportunity do, teach, and model apologetics. Every time we stand to preach, we are communicating to skeptics and doubters. In fact, not only do we regularly preach to non-Christians, but the Christians in our audiences are continually assailed by well-sounding and persuasive arguments against Christianity. Therefore, the pulpit is a great platform from which to respond to those arguments as well as to bolster the confidence of the believers in our midst. This session will discuss some of the basic elements of apologetic preaching, such as how to find apologetic elements within the biblical text, how to craft arguments that stay true to biblical exposition, and how to communicate effectively to people with an already skeptical mind.
